Flexiv, a leader in general-purpose robotics, is set to reveal its next-generation robotic platforms at the International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) from June 1-5 in Vienna, Austria. This event marks a pivotal moment for Flexiv as it showcases two groundbreaking robotic innovations that promise to redefine industry standards for tactile intelligence and modular adaptability.
What Happened
Flexiv will be presenting two state-of-the-art robotic platforms at Hall B, Booth 130 during ICRA. The first is a next-generation robotic arm featuring seven degrees of freedom and advanced touch sensitivity, which is designed for complex, human-centric environments. This arm boasts superior sensing capabilities and unprecedented agility, with four of its axes supporting a full 720-degree rotation. The second innovation is a modular robot platform, which includes two of the 7-DOF tactile arms mounted on a specialized torso. This system can be equipped with a computer vision-enabled head, a force-sensitive waist, and an autonomous mobile robot base, offering full autonomy and deployment flexibility.
In addition to the technology preview, Flexiv's chief robotics scientist, Shuyun Chung, will deliver a keynote address on June 3. His presentation, titled “Bridging the Last Millimeter in Contact-Rich Manipulation,” will explore the control theory and sensor integration needed to make high-degree-of-freedom robots collaborative in tight, human-centric workspaces.
Why It Matters for the AECM Industry
For AECM professionals, Flexiv’s innovations could significantly enhance automation capabilities in construction and manufacturing environments. The advanced sensing and manipulation capabilities of the new robotic arms allow for more precise and safe interactions with complex structures and materials. This can lead to increased efficiency and reduced risk in construction sites, where human-robot collaboration is essential. The modularity and adaptability of the systems also mean they can be tailored for specific tasks, potentially lowering costs and improving project timelines by reducing the need for multiple specialized machines.
