What Happened
CIMIC's UGL and CPB Contractors have been appointed to execute the balance-of-plant works for the Narrogin Wind Farm, located approximately 200km southeast of Perth. The contract encompasses comprehensive civil and electrical engineering tasks. These include the design, supply, and installation of access roads, turbine foundations, hardstands, electrical collector circuits, and a high-voltage substation. The wind farm will feature 23 of Envision Energy’s EN182-7.8MW wind turbines, marking the largest of such installations in the country to date.
UGL will be responsible for delivering a 220kV switching station and transmission line, facilitating the wind farm’s integration into the South West Interconnected System (SWIS) via Western Power’s existing infrastructure. The substation scope includes a 200MVA transformer, switch and control buildings, and other related systems. Construction is set to begin this quarter, supported by a long-term power purchase agreement with Synergy, covering 100% of the wind farm’s output.
