FAULHABER's latest launch of the GPT gearhead family presents a significant advancement in the robotics industry's drive component landscape. By focusing on flexibility, power density, and price, FAULHABER aims to set a new standard for high-performance gear solutions, especially for applications demanding high torque and low noise.
What Happened
FAULHABER introduced its new GPT gearhead family, designed to handle high forces and adaptable for various applications. The gearheads, compatible with FAULHABER’s GXR/SXR gearhead family, can be flexibly combined with standard motors such as the BXT brushless family. This innovation allows for seamless integration and compact assembly without additional connecting elements. The GPT gear series is engineered for high torques, with the capability to endure constant load changes and abrupt force variations. They are constructed from hardened stainless steel with welded connections, ensuring the reliable transmission of high forces. Available in diameters from 14 to 42 mm, they are shorter than alternative models, offering continuous torques between 0.6 and 18 Nm and speeds up to 24,000 rpm. The gearheads feature an extensive range of reduction ratios, enhancing adaptability for diverse applications.
Additionally, FAULHABER has developed a low-noise variant of the GPT family, targeting applications in close proximity to people or with multiple motors. The 22 GPT LN and 32 GPT LN models reduce noise levels by up to 10 dB, maintaining high efficiency even with frequent load changes. These models operate within a temperature range of -30° to +110°C, offering robustness and precision positioning with gear backlash of 0.8° or 0.6°.
What This Means for Your Business
For AECM and government contractors, FAULHABER's new gearheads offer enhanced opportunities to leverage high-performance, cost-effective drive systems. The ability to combine these gearheads with existing motor families without additional components can streamline integration and reduce costs. The high torque and noise reduction capabilities are particularly beneficial for sectors where precision and operational quietness are critical, such as in medical devices, aerospace, and automated manufacturing systems. This advancement could lead to improved ROI by lowering maintenance costs and prolonging equipment life.
What US Operators Should Watch
US operators should closely monitor the integration opportunities provided by FAULHABER's gearheads, especially in projects requiring precise torque management and noise control. The availability of these new gearheads could influence procurement strategies, aligning with federal regulations that prioritize efficiency and sustainability. As FAULHABER continues to innovate, staying informed about their product developments will be crucial for maintaining competitive positioning in the robotics and automation sectors.
