Dextall, a New York-based facade manufacturer with a $210 million project pipeline, has launched a proprietary robotic welding platform that triples production speed for structural components. The company simplified its supply chain by consolidating five steel hook configurations into one standardized component before automating welding. This "standardize-first" approach enabled stable volume production, making automation economically viable. Dextall collaborates with Turner Construction, Suffolk Construction, SOM, SLCE Architects, Aufgang Architects, and L&M Development. The robotic workcell improves welding consistency and speed, eliminating human fatigue-related defects. CEO Aurimas Sabulis emphasized that automation rewards stable processes, not the reverse. Dextall plans to extend standardization across its component library and automate full facade component production. This strategy helps meet rising demand, control costs, and ensure quality amid labor shortages and material price increases.
