AtkinsRéalis has partnered with Nvidia to create nuclear-powered AI factories using the CANDU nuclear portfolio and Nvidia’s Omniverse DSX Blueprint. This collaboration targets the rising demand for AI infrastructure, which currently outpaces available power supplies. The project aims to integrate nuclear power on-site, increasing the AI campus footprint by 20-30% but enhancing resilience and sustainability. Nuclear energy will provide secure, 24/7 power, supporting AI data centers and local grid infrastructure, while waste heat recovery will reduce operating costs. This approach contrasts with conventional data centers by combining power generation, cooling, and grid connectivity into a unified design. AtkinsRéalis plans to continue transforming infrastructure delivery through AI and accelerated computing over the next two years, focusing on reliable and sustainable power supplies for AI workloads.
