OAD has completed a 641-square-metre summer home in Riga's suburbs, featuring a charred timber and thatch exterior with a vivid blue and purple interior. The project, named BPROM, includes a two-bedroom main dwelling and an independent annexe housing a sauna and guest suite. Inspired by traditional Latvian homesteads, the home incorporates a bowed thatched roof and a layout that shelters a south-facing garden from northern winds. The interior palette draws from local dragonflies, using iridescent blues and purples in wall finishes, furniture, and fittings. Sliding doors connect the living area to a sheltered terrace with a weathered steel fireplace, blending traditional materials with contemporary design elements.
