Barratt Redrow has appointed GTC to deliver a smart home system across the 576-home Cosmeston Farm development in Wales. The system integrates networked ground source heat pumps, smart controls, grid flexibility services, home battery storage, and GTC-owned electricity and water networks. This approach aims to exceed the Future Homes Standard and achieve operational net zero carbon. GTC will monitor energy use across the site, collecting data from heat pumps, solar PV, batteries, and controls to verify net zero performance. Cardiff University will independently assess real-world data to establish benchmarks for large-scale net zero housing in the UK. The project aligns with Welsh Government policies promoting sustainable housing and climate action.
