XELA Robotics, a leader in advanced tactile sensor technology, has announced significant upgrades to its uSkin sensor family, set to be showcased at the upcoming Robotics Summit & Expo in Boston. These enhancements, focused on magnetic interference compensation and advanced communication protocols, promise to elevate the performance and applicability of robotic systems in industrial settings.

**What Happened**  
XELA Robotics, based in Tokyo, has introduced two major advancements to its uSkin sensor lineup. The first is a magnetic interference compensation capability that effectively neutralizes complex magnetic interference from nearby magnets and ferromagnetic materials. This enhancement is crucial for operations involving metallic objects, such as handling iron in factories or using magnetic clips. The second advancement is the adoption of the Controller Area Network Flexible Data-Rate (CAN FD), a high-speed communication protocol. CAN FD allows for the integration of more sensor modules on a single data line without compromising data transfer rates, which now reach up to 8 Mbps with larger payload capacities of up to 64 bytes. This reduces the risk of sensor overload and maintains a high measurement frequency of 500 Hz, even with multiple sensors in use.
