Although geopolitical upheavals continue to threaten economic stability worldwide, the UK's 100 leading construction firms seem to be gathering strength, albeit incrementally. Turnover grew at 68 companies, slightly down from 69 in the previous year, but pre-tax profits improved at 70 companies in the latest year, up from 68 in the 2025 table. In the latest Top 100, 87 companies traded in the black compared to 83 in last year’s research. The average pre-tax margin across the 2026 Top 100 rose to just over 3% from 2.4% in the preceding year.
